Jun Awazu (粟津 順)

Ohjaaja Jun Awazu on luonut uraa 3DCG:n parissa, ja päässyt mm. 5 Centimeters Per Secondin (Makoto Shinkai) ja Senki Zesshō Symphogearin tuottaneen Comix Wave Filmsin listoille. Suurin osa herran tuotoksista on toiminnan ja scifin välimuotoa ja on saanut varsin hyvän vastaanoton maailmalla, mikä on johtanut jopa lisensointiin USA:ssa. Awazu on syntynyt Aichissa, mutta työskentelee nykyään Tokiossa.

Awazun töitä ovat mm:
• Negadon: The Monster from Mars -elokuva (2005): ohjaaja, käsikirjoittaja, animaatio/mallinnus (CGI)
• Planzet -elokuva (2010): ohjaaja, käsikirjoittaja
• Zoids/ZERO -sarja (2001) 3DCG-avustaja

Screenings of “Negadon” and “Planzet” with Q&A

The audience has the chance to see clips from movies Negadon and Planzet, with commentary from the animator himself. Afterwards, there will be a Q&A session where we will hear details about Awazu’s works.

An overview of Japan’s traditional animistic worldview prior to Japan’s westernization, followed by a treatment on monster movies (like Godzilla) and Japan’s unique style of animation. How did these media develop in the cross-cultural mix between tradition and modernity? What is their current state, and where are they headed in the future? These topics will be addressed from the perspective of a creator.
